Grain terminal in Alvorada (TO).

Rumo and CHS form a partnership to operate a 1.5 million ton grain terminal in Tocantins. The Rumo and CHS project includes the transformation of the current road transshipment warehouse, with a capacity of 75 thousand tons of grains

The railway operator Rumo and the North American CHS made official this Tuesday a joint venture for the development of a multimodal grain storage and transshipment terminal in Tocantins. The terminal, with capacity to receive 1.5 million tons of grain per year destined for the Port of Santos (SP), will be installed in Alvorada, the first point of Rumo Malha Central in Tocantins.

The Rumo Malha Central, which is part of the North-South Railway, comprises a 1,537 km stretch that runs from Estrela D Oeste (SP) to Porto Nacional (TO). In Porto Nacional, another railway operator, VLI, has an important terminal, which connects the city of Tocantins to Açailândia (MA), linked to the Carajás Railway and a channel for transporting products to the north of the country to the port of São Luís.

The Rumo and CHS project includes the transformation of the current road transshipment warehouse, with a static capacity of 75 thousand tons of grains, into a terminal with a pear and railway bin, allowing connection with the North-South Railway.
