On May 13, 1976, Tecnal was founded, specializing in research, designing, engineering and development of vegetable oil extraction processes and equipment, and on October 12, 1976, TNL – Indústria Mecânica Ltda was opened, to manufacture equipment developed by Tecnal.
Both companies were idealized and founded by Ary Pocay, a true entrepreneur and visionary. Mr. Ary's career was punctuated by struggles and achievements, revealing the fiber, tenacity and bold spirit of a man of humble origins who won through work and self-effort.
1977 - The first equipment for a complete vegetable oil extraction plant was shipped, with the collaboration of partner Eng. Carlos Sorgi. Progress was fast; Tecnal and TNL with their process technologies and equipment conquered the market for oil extraction plants.
1978 - TNL Tecnal presented for the first time in the world the unprecedented soybean expansion technology, the EXPANDER, as a result of Mr. Pocay's work, in cooperation with his partner, Eng. Carlos Sorgi and a Brazilian oil processor.
A few months later, sets of equipment expander + dryer-cooler started to be mounted in existing preparation lines and began to give the first results with large scale production. Initially the novelty was adopted only by Brazilian factories, but a little later expanders were also implemented in several multinational processors in Brazil, when they caught the attention of their headquarters (mainly North American).
In the same year of 1978, we supplied eight 8” expanders to Anderson Clayton in the United States, for cottonseed processing. Not long later, the manager of this company, Willian B. Hendrick, retired from Anderson Clayton and became Tecnal's first sales representative outside Brazil. As such, he disseminated the expander technology in the American market, which was then completely unknown to most processors in the United States, through congresses of the American Chemists Oil Society (AOCS) and short-courses for factory supervisors at the Food & Protein Research and Development Center at Texas A&M University (College Station, TX). Then Les Watkins, General Chief of Food & Protein R&D at Texas A&M University, became the greatest defender of the expansion technology among vegetable oil processors and researchers. In the early 1980s, he visited Tecnal expanders in operation in Ponta Grossa–PR, running with cottonseed, and in Araucária-PR running with soybeans, and he was really impressed with what he saw. He also decided to spread the news about the expanders around the world.
Soon after, the first expanders for soybean started operating in the USA, what caused the consolidation of this technology throughout the world.
For almost 5 decades, TNL Tecnal develops and produces equipment and facilities for the preparation and extraction of vegetable oils, for seed receiving, seed cleaning, seed drying, conveying and storage of grains, high capacity conveyors for port facilities, feed plants and equipment for corn ethanol plants.
With a modern industrial complex for 125,000m2, located in the city of Ourinhos, State of São Paulo, we design, fabricate and assemble all our equipment with a team of more than 700 employees specialized in different areas of activity.
During all these years, TNL Tecnal continues to evolve and constantly invests in technologies to improve its equipment and production lines.
Today, we export our equipment to 48 countries and are recognized nationally and internationally for the quality and robustness of our products.
Certified with ISO-9001 and meeting all national and international quality and safety specifications and standards, we have achieved a leading position in the world market with the our Expander, equipment used in the preparation of oilseeds for oil extraction.
